new glass – sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM

November 3, 2014

haven’t been taking many pictures recently…have been posting crap on instagram but that doesn’t count.  there have been a few things going on in my life that forced me to concentrate on other things but even before that i was feeling rather jaded. one method for encouraging me to pick up my nikon again? new glass. to be more precise it’s a sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM. 10mm-20mm on an APS-C sensor camera equates to around 15-30mm but that’s still rather wide. haven’t used it much in anger but i’m very pleased with the results so far. here’s a sample:

arthurthis is a shot of the high flat that i moved to when i first left home. it’s called arthur and is on lincoln avenue in knightswood, glasgow. it’s, plainly, being demolished but there are three to the south of it that have been renovated and are staying up.  i was a resident of 12/2 which is visible on the far right of the building. so the 10mm has done it justice i think. no processing except for a slight crop. liking this lens rather a lot. it’s solidly built and feels better than any of my nikkor lenses.
