guinness glass

i like a glass of guinness. i don’t drink a huge amount of it and i’m not terribly fond of the extra cold stuff (ruins the consistency i feel) but i do like it. also the export variety that’s sold in the bottles is worth a try. put hairs on your chest it will…or make them fall out…one or the other.

pottery statue

was trying some close-up work of a pottery statue with my sigma 18–200 3.5–6.3. it copes well with the detail at 200mm but the minimum focus range is still annoyingly large (80cm or so). it does create some nice depth of field effects though…
this  nice piece of pottery/clay sculpture/statuette is owned by my mother. she has lots of interesting things to photograph.

extreme dof

just got a new lens for my sony alpha dslr a200…a sigma 18-200mm f/3.5–6.3 dc. it’ll take some time for the novelty to wear off i fear therefore the trusty sony 50mm f/1.8 will probably take a back seat for a while. so here’s an extreme depth of field shot…parting is such sweet sorrow…

just a glass of vodka and coke. used a wide aperture to create a nice depth of field and then tweaked the colours using curves in the gimp.
